Home is Where the Heart is

Check out my new obsession.

Felted Hearts!!!!

This wonderful pattern was created by Teresa Fox and can be found on Ravelry.

I will be using it to teach a two night class in January. The second nite we will embellish them, I can't wait!

Free scarf pattern

I made this scarf for my husband's new dress coat. Try it out with your own yarn combination and send us pictures!

Finished Size is 43 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide.

Yarn: 2 skeins main color and 1 skein accent color chunky weight yarn
I used 1.25 skeins of grey Nashua Creative Focus Chunky and 1/2 a skein of red Nashua Creative Focus Chunky.

Needle: Size 9 or size to get you the fabric that you like (I used a 24 inch circular)

Directions: Cast on 150 stitches using the main color.
Tip: If you use the crochet cast on, it will match your bind off side - thanks Sarah!

Knit 1 row with the main color, then repeat the next 7 rows as many times as you would like (I did it 4 times)

Row 1: Knit all stitches in accent color
Row 2: Knit all stitches in main color
Row 3: Knit all stitches in accent color
Rows 4-7: Knit all stitches in main color

When the scarf is as wide as you would like it, knit one row in the main color and then bind off very loosely in the main color. (I used a size 13 needle in my right hand when binding off)

Excitement on a Saturday

I'm not sure what was more exciting that day... the fire trucks at a false alarm down the street with all those firemen milling about

Thank you to Amy for not only playing for us during our open house - but then providing us with these great shots as well. What a treat to hear her play each year!

December Knit Nights!

Baby's Ear Cozy hat

Is it possible to be more adorable?!?

I made this Fiber Trends Ear Cozy hat for my brand new grand-nephew out of the new Cascade 220 superwash yarn we just got in at the shop. I washed and dried it with no special care with another load of laundry and it came out almost as soft and snuggly as he is!

Little Vegas?

You know the saying about what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas?
Don't tell Sally!

PS - please be patient with me until I can figure out how to flip the video

Retreat 2009!

Our annual retreat was fabulous as always. There were gorgeous projects, amazing show and tell items, wonderful meals, addicting snacks, Lanesboro shopping, massages and of course tons of laughter!

The first finished object of the weekend by Stefanie (started at the retreat last year)

Karoake singing (mostly laughing) ;-)

A sneak peak at a Tangled Skein staff project that you'll hear more about later this fall/winter.

Thanks to everyone for making the weekend a success and we hope to see you in 2010!

We had a wild and crazy Saturday at the shop - it was great to see everyone and hear the beautiful music from the two groups who stopped to entertain us!

Tulip Crazy!

I wrote this pattern up to match the Tulip sweater, but it works by itself too.

You can buy small balls of Dream in Color Classy to complete this 6 color hat. Way fun to knit! You can also buy small amounts for use on the sweater as well. Patterns are available for both.

Sara in Turkey?

Sara dropped me an email with a pic I had to add to the blog. Check out her Blue Sky Polka Dot hat. How cute is that???

She says:

I fit right in in Turkey knitting on the beach... lots of ladies from Norway knitting the most adorable sweaters, hats and mittens. Funny that I have to go to Turkey to find some knitters over here. I'm still searching for a fun group to knit with in Copenhagen.
The hat knit up super fast! It's really cute!!! I am bummed, I forgot my DP's at home, I am still plugging away at the East Side scarf... I love that yarn.

We miss you girl, but you look GREAT!!!!

We are checking for interest in our Fall knitting retreat. We know the economy isn't great, but all the more reason to get away and relax with The Tangled Skein crew. Call the shop or send us an email if you are interested.

Shelly's Cabled Hoodie!!!

Actually it's for her daughter. Great job! This is the first hoodie I've seen completed. I love the color. I believe Shelly knit it in the Cascade Eco-plus.

Time for a new project!!

Cabled Hoodie in progress...

I am making this cabled hoodie for a class we are offering this fall at the shop. I can't believe how fast this is knitting up! The cables are really standing out as well. I may just need to whip up another one for myself :-)

The yarn I'm using is Cascade Eco-Wool. I have the two front pieces and the back done and I just finished the first of 2 skeins. An entire wool sweater in under $30 - love it! Tonight I'll be joining the pieces and then knitting the button band, and hood.

NEW CO-OWNERS!!!!

Yes, The Tangled Skein is under new management. Sally and Sarah have joined me and are diving head first into yarn bliss.
Sarah's first question "What is my discount now?"
Sally's first question "What did we order at market?"
I want to thank them for jumping on board and more importantly, for loving The Tangled Skein as much as I do.
Wish us luck!!! SKEIN!!!

Fall at Tangled Skein

I stopped in on Saturday for a bit and was amazed at how quickly the fall season has arrived at the shop!

You should see all the yummy yarn that has come in... there may have been a few that followed me home. ;-)
